ER Recruitment have partnered with dmu to deliver the brighter futures programme
ER Recruitment have partnered with De Montfort University to offer 20 students work experience with locally leading Leicester businesses to increase their employability and ultimately retain top talent within the region.
The BrightER Futures project involves each student being uniquely matched to a business in order to build upon their commercial awareness, employability skills and business acumen. The programme has successfully ran throughout 2020 with the students praising the programme for positively impacting their success in securing work after graduating.
Businesses who supported the initiative consist of a variety of both large firms and SME's with a mutual goal to support our emerging business leaders. Breedon Consulting, Corporate Architecture, Brewin Dolphin, Cross Productions, East Midlands Chamber, ER Recruitment, Everards, Flogas, Freeths, Happy Pet Products, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, Johnson Astills, Juice Creative, Mark J Rees, Michael Switchgear, Mocha Marketing, Nelsons, Pick Everard, PPL PRS and RSM are all businesses who took part in 2020.
Here's how a few of the students found the programme:
"The programme had different ways of helping me with entering life after graduation, as it was not solely based on how to apply for jobs but events based on key life and career skills to help plan correctly for your future. I found that this range of support was very useful and appreciated."
"The BrightER Futures programme has been fantastic in helping me gain work experience in the Journalism field. I expressed to the programme that I hadn’t been able to find any internships or Journalism related experience to help further my career and how I struggled massively with my confidence. Since joining the programme I have worked with the amazing Niche Magazine team who took me under their wing and have truly prepared me for the world of work."
"Leaving University and beginning life in the world of work was very intimidating for me before I began the BrightER Futures programme. I have to say now with all the skills and knowledge I have acquired on what it is like to work in a professional environment, I have never felt more confident to take on the world of work, and without the BrightER Futures programme and the wide range of different events that I took part in as part of the programme. I don't believe I would feel this confident or prepared to begin my career."
De Montfort University are going to begin the search for the next intake of BrightER Futures students towards the end of 2020, if you would be interested in becoming one of the 20 students for 2021, keep an eye on DMU's skills and placement alerts.
